Major oil refinery put into operation in Kazakhstan

The biggest overhaul in the refinery’s history, which went on for 20 days was concluded on the Atyrau refinery in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to press office of the refinery.

“The whole planned volume of work was implemented during the overhaul period,” the press office said.

“This year the number of planned projects for overhaul was increased by 7.6 times to 12.695. Furthermore, for the first time in history the overhaul included Electrical desalting plant Atmospheric Vacuum Unit 3, where over 1,500 meters of pipeline were replaced, which were in operation since 1969. The diameter of the pipes on the unit is 600 millimeters,” the report said.

“The overhaul included maintenance of technical equipment, pipelines, electric equipment, dismantling and installation of isolation and so on. Thus, during overhaul some 140 tons of pipelines were replaced,” the statement said.

Furthermore, almost 640 specialists and 49 units of equipment were employed for construction and installation work. The majority of the work was performed by Megastroyplus company of Pavlodar. Besides this company, 20 other contractors participated in the overhaul.

Notwithstanding the overhaul, the refinery still manufactured production in reduced quantity to supply the region with fuel.

Overall, the overhaul will allow to increase efficiency of equipment, increase industrial and environmental safety. Currently the refinery is fully functioning.
