Uzbekistan to attract int'l experts to co-op in WB-funded project

National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC is looking for qualified individual experts for cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

After the recent division of Uzbekenergo Joint-Stock Company into three separate structures involved in the production, transportation, distribution and sale of electric energy, the government of Uzbekistan is looking for an international expert to support the creation of the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC.

Similar requests will be submitted to JSC Thermal Electric Networks, JSC Regional Electric Networks, and also JSC Uzbekneftegaz.

Uzbekistan received a World Bank (WB) loan in the amount of $150 million to cover the cost of a project to modernize and upgrade the country's power grids. Part of the funds will be directed to the selection and payment of services of a highly qualified consultant, an expert on the development of this project.

The hired expert will be appointed as an independent member of the executive board. The candidate’s responsibilities include providing comprehensive assistance in the creation and commissioning of the transmission company National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan, including the development of common strategic directions, as well as its financial planning and accounting management, system operation and modernization.

Only individual experts who meet the following criteria are considered candidates:

- more than 10 years of experience in managing transmission companies and / or system operators;

- higher education in an energy-related discipline (for example, electrical engineering, energy economics or finance, business and administration);

- international professional certificates in related fields, as well as strong letters of recommendation from experienced energy experts will be an advantage;

- knowledge of institutional, organizational, financial, administrative and regulatory factors, as they may affect the efficiency of a commercially viable transmission enterprise.
