By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Azerbaijan exported 734.97 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey in August 2019, which is 15.57 percent more compared to the same period last year (635.96 million cubic meters), Trend informs referring to a report posted on the website of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The country's share in gas imports to Turkey in August 2019 stood at 23.35 percent compared to 20.96 percent in August 2018, the report said.

The report shows that the total volumes of natural gas exports to Turkey in August 2019 exceeded 3.148 billion cubic meters, or 3.74 percent more than in the same period last year (over 3.034 billion cubic meters).

Thus, the country recorded a month-on-month contraction in natural gas imports in August. The total volumes of natural gas exports to Turkey in July 2019 exceeded 3.257 billion cubic meters, or 10.39 percent less than in the same period last year (over 3.635 billion cubic meters).

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan via the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). Turkey has a contract for annual purchase of 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas condensate field.

Turkey’s gas imports via the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) will reach the full capacity of 6 billion cubic meters in early 2020. As of 2019, Turkey will get 4 billion cubic meters of gas from TANAP
