BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 19

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran's Research Institute of Petroleum Industry and Amirkabir University of Technology signed a contract on the development of bilateral cooperation, Trend reports referring to the National Iranian Oil Company.

The document was signed by Director of the Institute Jafar Tofighi and Rector of the university Ahmad Motamedi.

The contract envisages the research in the oil and gas sector, implementation of joint industrial projects, and use of new technologies in the country's oil and gas sector.

During the signing ceremony, Motamedi said that structural changes were made at the university and expressed confidence that the Iranian universities will strive to reach the level of "third-generation universities".

Tofighi said that amid the sanctions imposed on Iran, the only way out is to use the potential of the startup industry.

Iran’s reserves of liquid hydrocarbons (crude oil, gas condensate) are estimated at 836.4 billion barrels, while natural gas reserves - 34 trillion cubic meters.

Iran with its hydrocarbon reserves ranks first in the world. Meanwhie, it is possible to produce only 239 billion barrels by using well-known technological equipment. That is, Iran may use only 29 percent of its reserves.

The US imposed sanctions against Iran in November 2018. These sanctions had a negative impact on the production, export of oil and the supply of necessary equipment for the sector. Iran plans to take a number of steps to resolve these problems.
