S.Korea to annually provides grant to Uzbekistan for development of energy sector

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy held negotiations with representatives of South Korean companies Korea Energy Agency (KEA) and Korea Investment Consulting Center (KICC), Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, the parties noted the successfully implemented joint projects in the energy sector and expressed hope for continued cooperation.

Representatives of Korean companies noted Korea’s intention to allocate grant funds at an average of $200,000 a year from 2020 to support the development of the energy sector in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the Koreans paid special attention to the issue of supporting Uzbekistan in training personnel in the field of energy efficiency.

It was also noted that KICC prepared a promising feasibility study project in the field of energy efficiency, which could become another area of ​​cooperation.

The parties came to the conclusion that it is advisable to develop a memorandum indicating the list of directions and promising projects for further cooperation, which is planned to be signed before February 2020.

Korea Energy Agency was established in 1980, its activities cover areas from the energy audit service, which determines the potential for energy saving in energy-intensive enterprises, to systemic optimization of the energy consumption structure of buildings and industrial enterprises using ICT.

In South Korea, KEA's activities are directed and have already largely led to the transformation of a low-energy society into a state with an efficient energy-consumption culture.
