Uzbekneftegaz discovers new gas fields in Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 11

By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

New gas reserves have been discovered at a depth of 2,105-2,054 meters at Shorkum field in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekneftegaz.

Shorkum field is located in the Jondor district of Bukhara region of the Uzbekistan, near the Andakli, Parsankul and Western Khodzhi fields.

Drilling works at Shorkum field are carried out within the framework of the "Program of development and reproduction of hydrocarbon base of Uzbekneftegaz JSC for 2020" in order to ensure the resource base of producing enterprises.

Test well No.2 was drilled on November 11, 2019 to research the oil and gas bearing capacity of Jurassic deposits to a depth of 2,105 meters. As a result, during drilling of the well in the interval of 2,105 - 2,054 meters, natural gas inflow was received with preliminary flow rate up to 200,000 cubic meters per day.

At present, the well testing has been completed and drilling work to research terrigenous Jurassic deposits is underway.

The drilling process of the well will continue till 2850 meters depth to test possible productive Lower Jurassic horizons.

Recently, Uzbekneftegaz received a daily natural gas inflow of 50,000 cubic meters (from each well) from two abandoned wells in Muynak district after re-drilling procedures.

Uzbekistan produces about 60 billion cubic meters of gas per year, exporting some of it via pipelines to China and Russia.

According to the State Statistics Committee, total oil production in Uzbekistan was 640,000 tons, and natural gas production was 54,301 million cubic meters in 2019.
