The last platform of the 13th phase in the development of Iran’s South Pars gas field (this field is called North Dome in Qatar), was installed on March 7, said Payam Motamed, operator of the South Pars project 13th phase, Trend reports citing Pars Oil and Gas Company.

According to Motamed, 13 C platform of the 13th phase was installed on the intended site.

Motamed added that 2,500-tons platform was manufactured by the Iranian Marine Industry Company (Sadra) and delivered to the field on February 10-11.

The project official said that currently, 28 million cubic meters of gas a day is produced from 13 B and 13D platforms.

“With the launch of platform 13A and the currently installed 13C platform, 28 million cubic meters of gas will be added. Thus, the four platforms will produce 56 million cubic meters of gas a day,” he said.

According to Motemed, the 13th phase's onshore processing plant can process 50 million cubic meters of gas daily and other produced gas products, including methane gas, gas condensate, LPG, ethane gas and sulfur.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field have reached 51 trillion cubic meters of gas (36 trillion extractable). At present, the potential for daily gas production from Iran's South Pars gas field is 650 million cubic meters. With the launch of new platforms in five phases (13, 14, 22, 23 and 24), gas production potential will increase to 680 million cubic meters daily.

Iran transported gas from South Pars gas pipeline to refineries in the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone.

Around 75 percent of Iran's gas is supplied by this field.
