Iran plans to increase crude oil feed and gas condensate by building refineries

TEHRAN, Iran, March 16

Iran's Oil Ministry has received requests for 7.3 million barrels of crude oil feed and gas condensate from applicants that want to build refineries, said deputy oil minister for planning Houshang Falahatian, Trend reports via ILNA.

"Out of the total 7.3 million barrels, 44 requests fell on 5.9 million barrels of crude oil feed, 9 requests for mixed feed (crude oil and gas condensate) with 925,000 barrels, 7 requests for 487,000 barrels of gas condensate," he said.

"In total, 117 applicants requested to establish refineries through public investments. After reviewing, 74 applicants passed the qualification," he said.

"The following refineries are to be built on the shores according to regulations," he added.

"The investors can submit their requests online at www.niordc.ir from March 19 to May 10," he added.

"The Oil Ministry would approve the requests 60 days after the deadline," he said.

Iranian parliament has approved the support of downstream industry development bill by using public investment in the current Iranian year (started March 21,2019), where oil ministry was obligated to attract investors for establishment of refineries.
