Turkmenistan, Russia agree to expand major oil well repairs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9

Turkmenistan’s Turkmennebit State Concern and Tatneft Company that belongs to Russia’s Tatarstan have agreed to expand territories of major oil well repairs, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The discussions were held in a videoconference format on April 8, 2020.

The parties discussed geological work carried out at the wells of the oil fields of the Turkmennebit State Concern. The parties have agreed to expand drilling of side shafts in some oil fields.

The Turkmen side was headed by the Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues Yagshigeldi Kakaev, while the Tatneft company was represented by General Director Nail Maganov. The videovonference was attended by representatives of the public sector of Turkmenistan, including representatives of the Turkmennebit State Corporation, as well as representatives of Tatneft.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Turkmennebit State Concern and the Tatneft company last year.

The signed document allows expanding cooperation between companies in the use of effective Tatneft technologies at Turkmennebit fields.
