Iran reveals fuel production by IRGC-owned refineries

TEHRAN, Iran, June 1

Trend:

Some 105 million liters of gasoline is daily produced in Iran, some 40 percent of which belong to the Khatam Al-Anbia Headquarters (a conglomerate of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps - IRGC), said the commander of the headquarters Saeed Mohammadi, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

"Construction of refineries has a great role in preventing the sale of raw oil and has been demanded by the Supreme Leader for many years,” Mohammadi said.

Mohammadi said that the sanctions do not apply to petroleum products and that there is no problem in selling gasoline and diesel.

He said that of the 105 million liters of daily produced gasoline, Iran is used a lot more less than that, so it could be used for benefits.

“As a result, the experience of gasoline exports to Venezuela could be repeated for other countries,” he said. “Especially since many countries are also looking to get Iranian gasoline.”

Mohammadi pointed to countries like Iraq Iraq, Afghanistan and other neighbors which are Iran`s gasoline customers.

The first of five Iranian oil tankers arrived in Venezuela last week to help ease fuel shortages, encountering no immediate signs of US military interference.

Iran has said it will continue fuel shipments to Venezuela if Caracas requests more supplies, despite criticism from the United States of trade between the two nations, both under US sanctions.

"Iran practices its free trade rights with Venezuela, and we are ready to send more ships if Caracas demands more supplies from Iran," foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi told a weekly news conference broadcast live on state television.
