Iran's small-scale power plants’ production potential increases

The production capacity of Iran's small-scale gas-powered plants has reached 800 megawatts in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

In the meantime, the production capacity of small-scale power plants in Iran was 663 megawatts in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said the ministry.

“The current production capacity shows a 21-percent increase,” the report said.

According to the ministry, the small-scale power plants are installed in the areas where the consumption is high.

“The commissioning of the power plants is one of the most important achievements of the Iranian electricity industry in terms of reducing the cost of developing the power grid and increasing its strength," added the ministry.

In total, the potential of electricity generation in Iran is more than 82,000 megawatts.
