EU4Energy helps Georgia develop emergency plan for uninterrupted gas supply

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 21

EU4Energy has launched a new technical assistance project aimed at developing the first Natural Gas Emergency Plan in Georgia, Trend reports referring to European Union (EU).

The objective of the emergency plan is to ensure a consistent and coordinated response to unplanned gas supply interruptions and to resolve gas supply emergencies. The project started in July and will run until November 2020.

Energy Community experts, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, and the Georgian Gas Transportation Company will work together to create a structure for the project implementation.

The project will take into consideration the current emergency management procedures and rules in Georgia, such as the Law of Georgia on Energy and Water Supply, and the Law on Civil Security, relevant provisions in the Natural Gas Market Rules and the Natural Gas Transmission Network Code.
