BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 21

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The gas pipeline will start to lay from the Aftab port to Kish thermal power plant (TPP) in the Kish Island of Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) tomorrow (July 22), Trend reports citing Iranian Pars Oil and Gas Company’s website.

According to the project, gas will be transported via pipeline to the TPP that is gas powered on the Kish Island, the report said.

The pipeline will be Iran's largest pipeline in offshore.

The length of the pipeline in this project will be 17.9 km. The pipeline will be laid with a 32-inch pipe.

After the laying of the pipeline, gas will be transported to the Kish TPP via Iran's 7th gas pipeline.

The 907-km long gas pipeline, starting from the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran), stretches to Bushehr Province (42 km), Fars Province (72 km), Kerman Province (153 km), Hormozgan Province (431 km) and reaches Iranshahr county of Sistan and Baluchestan Province (209 km).

The Kish Thermal Power Plant has the potential to generate about 200 megawatts of electricity. This is the only power plant that is not connected to the Iranian gas network.
