Urmia TPP connected to Iran's electricity network

The 1th unit of the Urmia Thermal Power Plant in Urmia county of West Azerbaijan Province has been connected to Iran's electricity network, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the report, electricity generation potential of the 1st steam unit of Urmia Thermal Power Plant is 160 megawatts.

"In total, this thermal power plant has 3 steam units and 2 units are currently under construction, the report said.

According to the report, with the commissioning of these units, the thermal power plant can produce a total of 480 megawatts of electricity.

"If Urmia Thermal Power Plant is fully commissioned, 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas will be saved annually, and about 500 megawatts of electricity will be added to Iran's electricity network," the report noted.
