Iran plans to commission oil facilities on Qeshm Island

The commissioning of the Hera oil platform and heavy crude oil refinery on the Qeshm Island in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) is on the agenda, the Adviser to the Iranian president and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran's Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones, Morteza Bank told journalists, Trend reports citing the Shana news agency.

The secretary noted that the Hera oil platform on Qeshm Island will supply raw materials for refineries and exporting of crude oil will be implemented.

Bank added that 30 percent of the platform's investment is provided by the Qeshm Free Trade Zone and 70 percent by the private sector.

The adviser emphasized that with the commissioning of the heavy crude oil refinery of Pars Behin Qeshm Oil Refining Company, 250 people will be employed.

According to the secretary, the plant is being built with a private sector investment of 133 million euro and there is currently 85 percent progress in this refinery.

The Hera oil platform on the Qeshm Island will possess the potential to supply and export 14.5 million tons of heavy crude oil, gasoline, diesel and bitumen per year. About 53 million euro has been invested on the construction of this platform and so far, there has been 65 percent progress in the construction.

The Pars Behin Qeshm Oil Refining Company’s heavy crude oil refinery will be able to produce 35,000 barrels of bitumen per day.
