Iran reveals amount of money spent on riffle part of Khudafarin dam

The current Iranian government (which has been in power since 2013) has spent more than 15 trillion rials (about $357 million) on the riffle part of the Khudafarin Dam in Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran), the Executive Director of the Regional Water Company of Ardabil (ARRW), Abbas Jangi Marani told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director noted additional funds should be allocated to accelerate work on the riffle part, and the efforts will be made to provide this amount soon.

Jangi Marani added that the project to be implemented in connection with the riffle part of the Khudafarin dam is a large project and will result in the production of 1 million tons of additional products in the agricultural sector.

"Furthermore, the riffle part of the Khudafarin dam will provide new irrigation systems to 36,700 hectares of dry-farming land in the Moghan plain of Ardabil Province," he said.

Jang Marani stressed that the project on Khudafarin dam riffle consists of 4 parts. The first part covers 1,100 hectares of land in the Fatali Plain and is equipped with new irrigation system of Center Pivot.

According to the director, 218 hectares out of 3,900 hectares in the second part will be provided with classical form, 2,650 hectares with Center Pivot irrigation system, 75 hectares with low pressure irrigation system and 958 hectares with drip irrigation system.

"As many as 3,350 hectares of land in the third part will be provided with classical, 6,100 hectares with Center Pivot and 814 hectares with drip irrigation systems," Jang Marani said.

The director emphasized that 9,200 hectares out of 10,400 hectares od lands in the fourth part will be provided with classical form, 907 hectares with Center Pivot and 298 hectares with drip irrigation systems.
