As many as 8 alternative renewable power plants will be launched in 6 provinces of Iran until December 21, 2020, Deputy Chairman of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran, Ali Shabnavard said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
The deputy chairman noted that these power plants will generate a total of 5.3 megawatt-hours of electricity.
Shabnavard also added that the power plants will be launched in Gilan, North Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, Lorestan, Fars, and Khuzestan provinces of Iran.
“Five of these power plants will be solar-panel power plants with each generation capacity of 500 kilowatt-hours, two small hydroelectric power plants with a total generation capacity of 1.3 megawatt-hours, and one waste heat recovery power plant with the generation capacity of 1.5 megawatt-hours,” he said.
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran report that 250 small solar panel power plants with a total generation capacity of 3.5 megawatt-hours of electricity have been launched over the past two months. In addition, 4,500 small solar panel power plants with a total generation capacity of more than 53 megawatt-hours of electricity are under installation.
The generation of alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran amounted to 4.17 billion kilowatt-hours during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2020).
About 41 percent of Iran's alternative renewable energy power plants are solar panels and 36 percent are wind turbine power plants. The rest belongs to other alternative renewable energy plants.
