Gas production in Iran increases

The gas production in Iran increased by 10 billion cubic meters during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hassan Montazer Torbati said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

According to Torbati, 203 billion cubic meters of gas were produced within 9 months.

The deputy minister added that while in the same period last Iranian year, Iran produced 193 billion cubic meters of gas.

“Of the 10 billion cubic meters of gas, 7 billion cubic meters were consumed on the housing sector, and 3 billion cubic meters on the energy supply of thermal power plants,” he said.

The director emphasized that in addition, the gas production in Iran increased 52 million cubic meters in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 21 through December 20), compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this amount, 43 million cubic meters were consumed in the housing sector and 9 million cubic meters on the energy supply of thermal power plants.

It is estimated that Iran's gas extraction is currently more than 1 billion cubic meters daily.
