Iran declares generation date of alternative renewable energy power plants

The alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated a total of 5.57 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through November 20, 2020), Renewable Energy and Energy Trend reports citing the report of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran.

According to the report, at the same time, the alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated 97 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 22 through November 20).

"As a result of the operation of these power plants in Iran for 8 months, 1.58 billion cubic meters of gas were saved in the consumption of fossil fuels. While in the 8th month, 28 million cubic meters of gas were saved in Iran," the report said.

In addition, 1.22 billion liters of water have been saved in Iran over the past eight months as a result of the operation of the alternative renewable energy power plants. However, this figure amounted to 21 million liters in the 8th month, the report said.

According to the report, also, the spread of 3.76 million tons of CO2 gas were prevented in Iran over the past eight months with the operation of these power plants. This figure was 63,000 tons in 8th month.

"The solar panel power plants generated 411 megawatt hours of electricity, wind turbines - 303 megawatt hours, small hydroelectric power plants - 105 megawatt hours, waste heat recovery stations - 13.6 megawatt hours and Biomass - 10.5 megawatts in the 8th month," the report said.
