By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The electricity generation in the East Azerbaijan Province decreased by about 4 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said an official of the East Azerbaijan Power Generation Management Company, Ali Khoruji Shabestari, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

The official stressed that the main reasons for the decrease were no need for electricity in Iran’s electricity network and the lack of fuel.

Khoruji Shabestari added that the power plants in East Azerbaijan Province generated more than 6 million megawatt-hours of electricity over the reporting period.

According to him, the company controls three thermal power plants in East Azerbaijan and 1 in Ardabil province of Iran.

“As a result of repair and reform work at the power plant under the company, it fulfilled its obligations under the plan by 78 percent in 9 months,” he said.
