The alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated about 5.74 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through January 20, 2021), Trend reports citing the report of Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization.
According to the report, while in the 10th month of the current Iranian year (from December 21, 2020, to January 20, 2021), the alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated 88.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
“As a result of the operation of these power plants in Iran for 10 months, 1.63 billion cubic meters of gas were saved in the consumption of fossil fuels. While in the 10th month, Iran has saved 25 million cubic meters of gas,” the report said.
Furthermore, 1.26 billion liters of water were saved in Iran as a result of the operation of the alternative renewable energy power plants within 10 months. However, this figure was 19 million liters in the 10th month, the report said.
According to the report, with the operation of these power plants in Iran, the spread of 3.86 million tons of CO2 gas were prevented over the 10 months. This figure was 57,000 tons in the 10th month.
“In the 10th month, the solar panel stations generated 426-megawatt hours of electricity, wind turbines- 303-megawatt hours, small hydropower plants -105 megawatt-hours, waste heat recovery stations - 13.6-megawatt hours, and biomass stations - 10.5 megawatt-hours. And these stations accounted for 50, 35, 12, 2, 1 percent of the total generation volume, respectively,” the report said.
