Iran can produce 80 million tons of petrochemical products annually with the launch of new facilities in Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 20, 2021), Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company, Behzad Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the Shana news agency.
He made the remark in the opening of the 14th International Iran Plast Exhibition in Tehran.
Mohammadi stressed that Iran can produce 9 million tons of polymers presently. This figure will reach 21 million tons in 2025 with the launch of several strategic facilities.
The deputy minister added that moreover, Iran's propylene production will reach 4.5 million tons in 2025.
“In general, 200 local companies are participating in the 14th International Iran Plast Exhibition. Fourteen of these companies are startups. The exhibition was also attended by more than 200 businessmen from India, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Afghanistan and Kenya,” he said.
The 14th International Iran Plast Exhibition started on Feb.7 in the Iranian capital Tehran and will continue until Feb.10. A number of products, including, rubber and rubber products, raw materials for petrochemical products, equipment and spare parts are on display at the exhibition.
Iran produced 31 million tons of petrochemicals last Iranian year (March 21, 2019 - March 20, 2020). Of these, 8 million tons were sold within the country, and 23 million tons of products were exported. The total sale value was $15 billion.
