By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

More than 82 percent of flare gas in the territory of the Iranian Marun Oil and Gas Production Company (MOGPC) has been collected since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date, the Executive Director for MOGPC Hamid Kavian said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

As reported, 22 million cubic meters of flare gas is collected daily in the territory of Marun Oil and Gas Production Company.

Kavian noted that more 4 percent of flare gas will be collected by the end of the current Iranian year. Over the next three years, necessary steps will be taken under contracts signed with Iranian petrochemical companies to collect the remaining 9 percent.

The director added that about 5 percent of the collected flare gas is consumed domestically.

“The company launched a sour gas desalination facility with a capacity of 12 million cubic feet (about 339,000 cubic meters) per day, improved the operation of the industrial water filtration center of Marun 3 and Marun 4 facilities. Thus, the filtration center can filter 1,600 cubic meters of water per day. In addition, conditions have been created for oil transportation without the use of drag reducing agents (DRA) and a number of other work has been done,” he said.

The Marun Oil and Gas Production Company, which operates under the auspices of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), extracts oil from 404 oil wells. The company's daily oil extraction is 562,000 barrels.

About 360,000 barrels of it is transported to the Esfahan Oil Refining Company, and the rest (202,000 barrels) to the Kharg Island.
