The Avaza State Power Plant of Turkmenistan produced more than 241 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through March of this year, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.
The mentioned figure is 21 million kilowatt-hours more than planned.
Turkmenistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $ 500 million contract aimed at financing the construction of high – voltage transmission lines along the Akhal – Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz routes in order to modernize the internal electrical transmission system in 2018.
The above-mentioned power plant is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea.
As reported, Turkmenistan is expected to grow electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025.
The construction of new power plants, power transmission lines, modern transformer substations, and switchgear will contribute to the growth of exports.
Earlier, the Turkmen Ministry of Energy said that there are opportunities to transit Turkmen electricity through Afghanistan to Tajikistan, Pakistan, and India.
Turkmenistan plans to generate up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2030.
