The daily electricity generation capacity of Iran's hydroelectric power plants will be reduced by about 3,200 megawatt-hours in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

“A joint proposal prepared by the Iran’s Energy Ministry and the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran on the supply of water to areas, where water is needed in all provinces of Iran was approved by the Iranian Cabinet of Ministers this week. According to the proposal, 32 trillion rials (about $762 million) will be spent on water supply,” he added.

Ardakanian said that this summer will be the driest in Iran for the past 50 years.

The minister noted that 35 water and electricity facilities have been put into operation in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021). In this regard, about 80 trillion rials (about $1.9 billion) have been spent.

Reportedly, 10 facilities were launched in Iran’s electricity sector on May 18. In total, 3.36 trillion rials (about $80 million) was spent on these facilities. Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian and other officials attended the event online format.
