Iran's petrochemical production potential increases - Zanganeh

Iran’s petrochemical production potential has increased by 38 percent over the past year, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said, Trend reports citing the IRINN.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of petrochemical facilities in Iran on May 20, 2021.

Zanganeh stressed 17 petrochemical facilities were put into operation in Iran over the past year. The production potential of these petrochemical facilities is 34 million tons per year. A total of $17 billion has been spent on the launch of these facilities.

“Thus, Iran's petrochemical production potential has increased from 56 million tons to 90 million tons per year,” he added.

As reported, three petrochemical facilities worth $1.3 billion were put into operation in Iran on May 20, and as result, 2,450 people were employed. With the launch of these facilities, Iran's petrochemicals production potential has increased by 3.5 million tons.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh and other officials attended the event dedicated to the launch of petrochemical facilities online format.

The production of petrochemical industry in Iran reportedly will be minimum 130 million tons per year until March 20, 2026.
