As many as 25 steam units have been built at Iran's thermal power plants during the ruling of the current Iranian government (in power since 2013 and will end in August this year), which is an increase of 53 percent, compared to the past eight years, Trend reports citing Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s information portal.
According to the report, the electricity generation capacity of these steam units is 4,000 megawatt-hours, and 654 megawatt hours of electricity will be added to this potential by August 2021.
“The launch of each of these units has saved the consumption of 250 million cubic meters of gas per year, the report said.
In total, 7.25 billion cubic meters of gas worth $1.3 billion were saved, the report said.
According to the report, taking into account various economic problems, annually 2,500 megawatt-hours of electricity has been added to Iran's electricity generation capacity over the past eight years.
At present, Iran's electricity generation potential is 86,000 megawatt-hours.
