The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey has extended the license of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) for exploration of oil and gas deposits, a source in the ministry told Trend on July 30.
According to the source, on November 4, 2020, TPAO applied to the ministry to extend the license for another five years.
TPAO will conduct oil and gas exploration on an area of 15,300 hectares in Siirt province, the ministry said.
In April 2014, a law came into force in Turkey, allowing exploration for oil in forests and national parks.
