Georgia sees increase in fuel prices

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Fuel prices hit record high in Georgia, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Since early 2021, gasoline prices in the country hiked by an average of 73 tetri (23 cents).

The price of 'Regular fuel' reached 3 lari (97 cents), Premium fuel stood at 3 lari. The price hikes were caused by the increase in global fuel prices.

Recent period has experienced a steep rise in oil prices by about $80 per ton.

Experts believe that a floating excise tax, namely its halving, can stop the rise in gasoline prices.
