BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1

By Amina Nazarli - Trend:

Turkmenistan’s State Power Station Derweze in the Ahal region produced roughly 2.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2021, a 4.5 percent increase over the previous year, Trend reports referring to Business Turkmenistan news portal.

The power plant, which was put into operation in 2015 has four gas turbine units with a combined capacity of 504.4 MW. The plant’s commissioning increased the reliability of the electricity supply in the country’s Ashgabat city and Akhal region.

Constructed by Turkish Calik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., the plant is located on an area of 32 hectares.

Concern "Türkmenenergoguluşyk" of Turkmen Energy Ministry has started construction of the second phase of the project to create a ring power transmission system in Turkmenistan.

The second stage of construction of the ring system includes a power transmission line with a length of more than 560 km, with a voltage of 500 kV from the Balkan to Dashoguz region and is expected to be completed in 2023.

The first stage of the 421-kilometer-long power transmission line between the Akhal and Balkan regions went into service in October 2021.
