BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. Iran’s Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC) has started extraction from wells No. 123 and No. 124 of the Mansouri oil field, Executive Director of the company, Mohammad Javad Shams said, Trend reports citing the National Iranian Oil Company’s website.

According to Shams, thus, 4,000 barrels were added to Iran's daily crude oil extraction.

The official added that at present, a test period is underway to determine extraction from the mentioned wells, and after the end of the test period, the wells will be handed over to the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

“Iran’s Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company has started extraction from 5 wells from the Mansouri oil field since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021),” he said.

The Mansouri oil field is located in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran). This field was discovered in 1963. The field contains a total of 3.3 billion barrels of crude oil and produces 100,000 barrels of oil per day. Extraction from this field began in 1974.

According to the OPEC report, Iran's crude oil extraction in April amounted to 2.56 million barrels per day.
