TEHRAN, Iran, June 6. Iran is unlikely to increase gasoline price since it would affect price of other energies and commodities, a member of parliament's energy commission Musa Ahmadi told Trend.
He pointed out that transportation cost is an important issue and the government seeks to improve people's welfare and control inflation and gasoline price is unlikely to increase.
"The price of some items has recently increased due to government policy to end subsidized foreign currency for import to control inflation and reduce prices. I don’t think there is a plan to increase energy prices such as oil, gasoline, gas," he stressed.
He went on to say that if the government's policy is to raise the price of gasoline the parliament would review it and make a decision based on public interest. The parliament's energy commission has not received any report on energy price hikes.
According to the MP, if the government increases gasoline price the parliament would oppose it since the decision is not in favor of the public interest.
