BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. The second steam unit of the Asaluyeh Thermal Power Plant in Bushehr Province (southern Iran) was put into operation on October 8, 2022, Trend reports citing the Iranian Energy Ministry.
In connection with the launch of the 2nd steam unit of the mentioned thermal power plant, an event was held in the country.
During the event, an official of Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH), Rouhollah Espinani said that Asaluyeh TPP has currently 6 gas units and 2 steam units under operation. The power plant can generate a total of 1,493 megawatt-hours of electricity.
Espinani noted that the power generation capacity of the 2nd steam unit is 160 megawatt-hours. About 130 million euros has been spent on the construction and launch of the unit. The 2nd steam unit was built with the financial support of Iran's MAPNA Group.
“Each steam unit of Asaluyeh TPP will save 282 million cubic meters of fuel. Thus, in total, Asaluyeh TPP will save 846 million cubic meters of fuel per year,” the official said.
Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian and other officials attended the event dedicated to the launch of the 2nd steam unit of Asaluyeh TPP on October 8.
