Gas consumption in residential buildings in 4 provinces of Iran - Tehran, Razavi Khorasan, Isfahan and East Azerbaijan, is higher than other provinces, an official of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Gholam Reza Kushki said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

"Thus, about 40 percent of the country’s gas consumption accounted for the mentioned four provinces," he said.

Kushki noted that according to the weather forecast, gas consumption in residential buildings across country is expected to reach 670-680 million cubic meters per day as the temperature drops further in the coming days.

As an example, he brought up the statistics - on January 22, gas consumption in residential buildings in the country amounted to 640 million cubic meters, while the figure stood at 622 million cubic meters on January 21, the official added.

As reported, Iran currently produces 977 million cubic meters of rich gas per day. After processing, 843 million cubic meters of gas are supplied to the country's gas network daily.
