BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. The 5th refinery of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) produced over 18 billion cubic meters of gas from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to March 12, 2023, head of the 5th refinery, Kambiz Sefati said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
The official said that the produced gas was fully supplied to the country’s gas network.
“In addition, the 5th refinery produced more than 125,000 tons of ethane, 386,000 tons of propane, and 226,000 tons of butane within the mentioned period,” he added.
Along with the mentioned products, 40,000 tons of sulfur and approximately 23 million barrels of gas condensate were produced by the refinery for the reporting period, Sefati noted.
According to him, a total of 1.1 trillion rials (about $26.2 million) worth of equipment was purchased for the 5th refinery during the same period. About 85 percent of the purchased equipment is domestically produced.
The 5th gas refinery of the South Pars Gas Company processes gas and gas condensate transported from the 9th and 10th phases of the South Pars gas field. The refinery processes 56 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensate, 2,600 tons of ethane, 2,180 tons of propane, 1,250 tons of butane, and 240 tons of sulfur per day.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
