BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Around 819 675 tons of oil was delivered to the STAR refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye in February 2023, as compared to 838 922 tons delivered in the same period in 2022, showing a decrease of almost 3 percent, Trend reports citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The EPDK report shows that the refinery produced nearly 528 242 tons of diesel fuel, 100 421 tons of aviation fuel, 115 274 tons of other products, 4 831 tons of heavy vacuum gas oil, 20 943 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 131 813 tons of naphtha, 73 729 tons of petroleum coke and 31 407 tons of refinery gas.

STAR Refinery, with investment value of $6.3 billion came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans. The total investment in Star Refinery is expected to stand at $7 billion.

The annual processing capacity of STAR Refinery is 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Türkiye’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
