Power generation of Iran’s Eslamabad-e-Gharb TPP continues to grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Power generation of Iran's Eslamabad-e-Gharb Thermal Power Plant in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran) increased by 12 percent, during the second month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same month last year, Trend reports.

Executive Director of Bistoon Power Generation Management Company (which manages the plant), Masoud Mirza Asghari said that the TPP generated more than 50.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity for the 2nd month.

“Of the generated electricity for second month, 50.4 million kilowatt-hours were supplied to the country’s electricity network,” he added.

The director also pointed out that in total, the mentioned station generated more than 75.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the first 2 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023).

Iran’s Eslamabad-e-Gharb TPP has 4 gas units, each of which can generate 25 megawatt-hours of electricity.

At present, the power generation capacity of Iran's all power plants including, thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc. is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent are accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.

There are currently 616 power units operating in 134 TPPs in Iran. The power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants is 74,198 megawatt-hours.
