ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 26. The operator of the North Caspian Sea Project, North Caspian Operating Company N.V. (NCOC), has started construction of a gas pipeline from Bolashak Oil Processing Facility (OPF) to the planned third-party gas processing plant, Trend reports.

NCOC has begun construction of the gas pipeline as part of the implementation of its obligations under the project to transfer 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The length of the gas pipeline laid from the Bolashak OPF to a third-party gas processing plant will be about 15 km. For the construction of the gas pipeline, 16-inch pipes are used, manufactured to special order for operation in the harsh conditions of the North Caspian project and meeting international safety standards. The transportation of pipes was carried out by sea and land transport by the Kazakh contracting company KCOI LLP.

This project provides for the transfer of 1 billion cubic meters of raw gas per year from the Bolashak OPF to a third-party gas processing plant. The construction of the gas processing plant is currently being carried out by QazaqGas (Kazakh National Company). The successful launch of this project will increase oil production at the Kashagan field by approximately 25,000 barrels per day.

The implementation of this project will ensure an increase in the gas resource base, provide the regions of Kazakhstan with natural gas, and also create a multiplier effect for the country’s economy.
