TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 8. Gazprom PJSC is working on new possible routes of gas supply to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Director of the Third CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Sternik said, Trend reports.
Touching upon the topic of modernization of existing capacities, Sternik noted that Gazprom company recently started reverse pumping of gas through the territory of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan via the 'Central Asia – Center' gas pipeline system.
He noted that advanced Russian technologies were used in the modernization of this system, adding that Gazprom is currently studying new potential routes and parameters of gas supplies.
In early October, Russian Gazprom began supplying gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan to cover part of the deficit in the country in the autumn-winter period.
The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan clarified that the contract for the purchase of gas was concluded for two years, and the volume of purchases will be 9 million cubic meters per day – about 2.8 billion cubic meters per year.
