Iran sees over two-fold growth in natural gas export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 27. Iran's natural gas exports rose by 139 percent in value and 115 percent in volume in the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

Data from the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) shows that Iran exported about 7.06 million tons of natural gas, worth $2.37 billion over the course of seven months.

Meanwhile, in the same period of the previous Iranian year, the country’s natural gas export stood at 3.28 million tons, worth $995 million.

In other words, Iran's natural gas export for the reporting period increased by $1.38 billion in value and 3.8 million tons in volume compared to the same period last year.

Iran stands second in the world for gas reserves, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. The county's gas production capacity is currently more than 1 billion cubic meters per day.

On average, Iran currently produces about 259 billion cubic meters of gas annually and more than 800 million cubic meters daily.
