BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 5. Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Iran engaged in seasonal energy exchange, amounting to nearly 33 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in 2023, Trend reports via Nakhchivan Energy Department.
Based on seasonal demand, Nakhchivan received around 32.7 million kWh of electricity from Iran last year, and returned 33.3 million kWh during the spring-summer period.
Overall, 474.56 million KWh of electricity were generated in Nakhchivan in 2023.
Of this total, 46.4 million KWh were produced at Araz hydroelectric power plant (HPP), 26.56 million kWh at Bilav HPP, 19.12 million KWh at Arpachay-1 HPP, 327,400 kWh at Arpachay-2 HPP, 318.3 million kWh at Nakhchivan modular power plant, and 1.4 million KWh at Nakhchivan gas turbine power plant.
Electricity production in Azerbaijan increased by 272.3 million kWh in 2023, totaling 29.27 billion kWh, compared to 2022.
The country exported 3.25 billion kWh and imported 211.8 million kWh.
