ITERA-Georgia Prefers Cheaper Azerbaijani Gas to Russian Fuel

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend U.Ismayilova / ITERA-Georgia company, which supplies natural gas to Georgian regions, has ceased its purchasing of gas from Russia and prefers Azerbaijani gas.

Vitaliy Lomidze, the Spokesman for the company, said in talks with journalists, that after the rehabilitation of natural gas delivery by the Azerbaijani gas company Azerigas to Georgia via the previous gas pipeline on 29 May, ITERA-Georgia made an inquiry for purchase of 16mln cu m of gas in June.

Azerbaijan supplies gas to Georgia at the price of $120 per 1,000cu m. Gasprom sells gas to Georgia at the price of $235 per 1,000cu m.

In June the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation will receive from Azerigas 1.2mln cu m of Azerbaijani gas a day.

Import of gas extracted from the Shah Deniz via the South Caucasus pipeline will also be continued.
