SOCAR Announces Tender for Oil Sale from Novorossiysk

Oil&Gas Materials 20 July 2007 15:31 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The Marketing and Economic Operations Department (MEOD) of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have announced a tender on the export of 1.2mln barrels of REBCO oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline. The first oil cargo with 600,000 barrels of oil will be unloaded on 16-18 August. The second cargo will be shipped on 29-31 August. Results of the tender will be announced on 21 July.

Suspension of work at the catalytic cracking plant has resulted in an increase in the volume of Azerbaijani oil intended for export. The increase of oil volumes is linked to the decrease in black fuel production processed at the Heydar Aliyev catalytic cracking plant. This resulted in the increase of vacant oil volumes allocated for export, which SOCAR related to the cut in mazut consumption for electricity production.

In addition, the suspension of work at the catalytic cracking plant resulted in the full stoppage of liquefied gas. The repair of the device is scheduled for the end of July.

In 2007 oil cargoes from Novorossiysk have been purchased by the following companies:

Glencore Energy UK Ltd - February (450,000 barrels);

REOC Ltd - March (450,000 barrels);

Glencore Energy UK Ltd - April (450,000 barrels).

Sunoil SA - May (450,000 barrels).

Oil Refineries LTD - June (1.2mln barrels)
