Nearly 3mln Tons of Oil Transported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan through Georgia in July

Georgia, Tbilisi /corr. Trend N.Kirskhalia / A total of 2.9mln tons of oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline through Georgia in July. The volume of the oil transportation via the pipeline is constantly increasing, a source stated in Oil and Gas Corporation of Georgia. A total of 1.6mln tons of oil was transported via BTC in January, 2mln in February, 2.2mln in March-April, 2.8mln in May and 2.4mln in June.

The volume of oil transportation is expected to significantly decrease in September due to the planned termination of the oil production on Azeri-Chirag-Gineshli fields. The termination will take place at the beginning of September for 18 days.

The total volume of the oil and condensate, exported via the BTC until the end of July, made up 180.1 mln barrels (more than 24mln tons). The average daily carrying capacity of the pipeline in July equaled nearly 700,000 barrels of oil. BP intends to increase the volume of transportations via this pipeline up to 1mln barrels of oil per day (nearly 50mln tons per day).
