Tehran, Iran, Nov.13

‏Trend:

‏Iran's Central Bank reacted to halt of SWIFT for some Iranian banks and financial institutions due to re-imposed US sanction.

‏"SWIFT has no role in preserving accounts and foreign currency transactions; it is predicted that disconnection from SWIFT will create no shortcomings in foreign currency transactions or foreign trade," ILNA reported quoting a CBI statement.

‏"Considering the news of SWIFT suspending its services for some of the country's banks, hereby we announce that SWIFT is just a financial messaging service at the international level and has no role in preserving accounts and foreign currency," the statement added.

‏"Therefore, as stated in previous CBI statements, there will be no shortage in foreign currency transactions and progress of foreign trade. Economic activists can safely use the services in all banks that possess foreign currency licenses for their business affairs."
