Corporate operations down in primary market of Baku Stock Exchange

The total volume of transactions in corporate securities on Azerbaijan’s Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 746.684 million manats in January-August 2019, Trend reports referring to the BSE’s reporting data.

The volume of transactions in corporate securities was 591.859 million manats for the same period of 2018. As a result, the growth of the total volume of transactions in the first eight months amounted to 26.2 percent.

Among the operations, 40 transactions worth 95.191 million manats were made in the primary market, which is 2.5 times less than in January-August 2018. Of these, 12 transactions were made on mortgage bonds in the total amount of 80.503 million manats (decrease of 40.5 percent).

In January-August 2019, two shares were sold on the primary market with a total amount of 300,000 manats, while 64 shares worth 99.4 million manats were sold on the primary market in the same period of 2018.

The secondary securities market accounted for 1,514 operations with a total volume of 651.493 million manats. The share of securities amounted to 87 percent of the total amount and 97 percent of the total number of transactions. Moreover, 1,135 shares worth 1.414 million manats were sold on the secondary market, which is 30 times less than in January-August 2018.

Repo transactions on corporate securities amounted to 6.973 million manats (decrease of almost four times). In total, 11 repo transactions were carried out at BSE in January-August 2019, three times less transactions than during the first 8 months of the previous year.
