Uzbekistan leads by amount of money transfers from Russia

The value of money transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan amounted to nearly $2 billion during 1H2019, which is $200 million more than during the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

This is illustrated by the statistics data published by Central Bank of Russia.

Thus, during the reporting period, Uzbekistan has been a leader among CIS countries by money transfers from Russia. It is followed by Tajikistan ($1.1 billion) and Kyrgyzstan ($935 million).

Furthermore, according to the information of Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the number of labor migrants from Uzbekistan to Russia has increased over the course of the last three years.

Thus, if in 2017 this number amounted to 1.9 million people, then in 2018 this number went up to 2 million people. According to the statistics as at July 1, 2019, the number of labor migrants from Uzbekistan amounted to 2.1 million people.
