Trade leads in total turnover of Georgia's business sector

Georgian trade sector had the highest share (43.2 percent) in the total turnover in business sector in 2018, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The trade sector is followed by arts, entertainment and recreation with 16.1 percent share, manufacturing – 10.6 percent, construction – 8.3 percent, transportation and storage – 5.8 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – 3.8 percent, and other sectors with 12.2 percent share.

In business sector production value, manufacturing (21.9 percent), construction (18.7 percent), trade (16.5 percent), and transportation and storage (9.7 percent) took the top four places in 2018. Other sectors had the 33.2 percent share.

By the number of employees, trade (26.8 percent), manufacturing (12.7 percent) and construction (10.1 percent) were leading in business sector in 2018.

The enterprises engaged in health and social work activities (9.9 percent), transportation and storage (7.9 percent), and accommodation and food service activities (6.2 percent) also had a significant share.

By regions, Tbilisi (73.8 percent), Adjara (6.6 percent), Kvemo Kartli (5.2 percent), Imereti (4.6 percent), and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (3.1 percent) were leading in gross turnover.

Furthermore, Tbilisi (64.2 percent), Adjara (8.5 percent), Kvemo Kartli (7.7 percent), Imereti (6.1 percent), and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (3.8 percent) were leading In gross production value.
