Tourism revenues in Georgia in 2019 increased by 1.4 percent year-on-year to $3.26 billion, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Georgia.
As reported, in 2018 this figure amounted to $3.22 billion.
At the beginning of this year, tourism revenues in Georgia grew by five percent.
Revenues decreased after the ban on flights to Georgia introduced by Russia; in July, the revenues decreased by 8.6 percent, in August - by 6.8 percent, and in September - by 4.9 percent.
According to the National Bank, tourism income growth resumed in October, when revenue grew by 5.2 percent year-on-year.
In 2019, visits by international travelers (who have been in the country for more than six months, not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) to Georgia reached 9.357 million.
According to the administration, in 2019, the number of international travelers to Georgia increased by 7.8 percent compared to 2018.
The number of visits of tourists (the visitors who spent at least one night in Georgia) amounted to 5.080 million, which is 323,658 more than in 2018 and shows an increase of 6.8 percent.
