Swedish EF Education First eyes to invest in English language dev't in Uzbekistan

Swedish company EF (Education First) intends to invest about $59.3 million worth of direct investments for implementation of joint development of English language in Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov and President of EF Carl-Johan Westring signed a memorandum of understanding on March 5, 2020.

As part of the document, the parties intend to lay the foundation for the development of bilateral relations.

In particular, the parties plan to establish cooperation to assess the knowledge of students, teachers, and a number of trainings are also planned to be held to improve knowledge and skills on development of English language in Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the sides intend to implement programs on assessment of knowledge of English language.

The sides will develop joint programs for professional development of teachers in Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that about 5.4 million children in Uzbek schools study English as a foreign language.

EF Education First is one of the largest private educational companies in the world, which offers a variety of educational programs in English, methods and pedagogical approaches to improve the effectiveness of learning English.
